Ah it's spring again

With it being the snowiest winter on record here in Philly, spring could not have come any sooner. Because of all that lovely moisture (snow and rain), everything is bursting with life here including my garden.

I was afraid nothing was going to survive since we haven't had a cold winter since I started it but it seems like everything is coming up in full force, except the crocus which might not have had a good transition time to bloom.

Usually in Philly, everyone talks about their fig trees or tomato plants or community vegetable garden. Mine is purely for show - purple, orange and yellow flowers everywhere (and the occasional white). Lots of perennials. Lots of lillies and violas. One ever-expanding Miss Kim lilac...the pride of my southern-facing backyard. The front "yard" has several pots filled with hostas and other shade lovin' plants. I love a pretty garden :-)

So right now the violas are spreading everywhere. The different lillies are starting to push their way up. Miss Kim is just about ready to bloom. And my little Japanese maple, who I just got last year, survived and is opening its little delicate purplish leaves. [photos to follow]

So does anyone else have a purely showy garden in Philly?
