Discover Magazine reports that in the near future you may be able to cut down on the amount of hours required for a good night's rest from 8 to 4 using a technique known as transcranial magnetic stimulation. TMS uses a magic wand an electromagnetic coil to emit "skull-penetrating, neuron-activating magnetic energy" to immediately induce non-REM sleep. Time to break out the tinfoil hats!yeah, i don't think this is necessarily a good thing. there's a reason why we've evolved this sleep pattern over millions of years. and you go through non-REM sleep when you first fall asleep, so what exactly are you skipping over in this process? and i need my dreams, or else how would i have crazy stories and surreal images to keep me going through the day?

i agree with you. i feel the same way about the new lines of birth control that reduce your period from about 12 per year to 4....

This will go on to replace Flunitrazepam as the next date rape aid. Can you just imagine some drunken frat boy running around a party with on of these TMS machines?
