Unba//anced

i come back to this?

i leave philly wednesday morning when it was already 50 degrees outside (and it made it up to 70 later on). i come back and there's been a sleet storm. what.the.fuck?

i'm back at work this morning after the loooooooooong Keystone trip. i'm proud of all my boys - they behaved themselves and had a good time. the kids from the other center - not so well-behaved (four occurrences of "i locked myself out of my room", lots of lateness/oversleeping/screaming/yelling/pranking and calling other rooms and two very messy and stinky rooms). i personally had to play hall monitor from 11pm to 1 or 2 am every night and saturday we had a toilet overflow, so at 1:30 in the morning i had my yoga pants rolled up, standing barefoot in an inch of ice cold water while holding up the float ball so the toilet would stop overflowing while one of the teens grabbed a hanger so we could rig it up until maintenance showed up. awesome

but i will say this, there was plenty of fun - the mall of america amusement park on the log flume ("hi! we're tourists! we're from philadelphia!") and bumper cars ("joshua, what are you doing?!? we're going to crash into that nice young lady!") and the DDR battle with irishboy - and my group really bonded and got to know one another. they can't wait until next year - anaheim, ca - and you know i'm going to that one. i'm not missing out on cali, baby!

and a special thanks to the two women who thanked me for taking care of their sons and to the woman on the plane who said i have the grace of god on me for working with those teens. it's nice to hear a thank you once in a while for a job that gets little thanks (and even less pay ;-)

edited to add:i forgot to mention that all my boys got digits. so, not only did they have fun, acted like adults when they needed to, but they're becoming quite the ladies' men ;-)

current mood: way, way overtired
current noise: "exit" by u2 (i've been into the joshua tree lately)

Glad you had such a good trip....

I have been listening to the Joshua Tree myself lately.....especially after I was informed that it has now been TWENTY YEARS since its release...

(that was during my Junior Year of High school for those of you scoring my misery at that bit of minutiae at home)

    Its Angie,

Super yay about the guys and you having fun, glad they were good.

As for thee other teens, sounds like a terrific mess if you ask me.

Ick, toliet water. I would have thrown up. Ah, just ... YUCK.

Yeah, that storm=equals fun and I had to go to Montgom. county on Friday in that.

    Ugh.

I guess it was well worth it for what I went to do but still bleh.

Stuck on a bus for almost three hours, waiting for another, fifteen minutes. Three fourty-sevens jammed packed passed me.

Oh well, I listened to music to pass the time away and bought and Enviga, never tried one, was curious.
Green tea tastes good and a special k bar, honey nut, just to pass time and it did keep me out of the house so maybe it wasnt as bad as I thought.

Anyways, glad your back and you seem to be happy too, thats really good. I'm really glad. I was worried for you but then somehow I kinda knew you'd be okay.

You are a pretty cool computer room lady, yep.

    Okay, fo shizzle my nizzle.

    I'm leaving .. like now.
