goin' to the liberry

i finished reading the two books i checked out of the library last week...disgrace by j.m. coetzee and the god of small things by arundhati roy...and while both are amazing books (although if you're looking for uplifting stories, read something else), i'm still vaguely unsatisfied, reader-wise. can anyone recommend some fiction for me to read? i'm headed to the library now, but i'll take any suggestions for the next round of reading. and please no non-fiction...i've read enough of that in my life and i have magazines to give me a dose of reality.

It's also totally not cheery, but it's very thought-provoking and a quick read--On the Beach by Neville Shute. At first, I thought it was just one of Sarah's apocalypse books, but having finished it like 4 months ago, I'm surprised at how much I still think about it and when. Totally worth it.
