(n) a female who is a bitch, yet very hot.
so, i just sat in the jury room the whole day and didn't even get to cause mayhem in a court room....boo to the justice system for thwarting me.
i recently got two new cookbooks dealing with Thai and wok cooking, since the boy and i have been loving all kinds of asia food lately. so i decided to make mu shu chicken yesterday (which was a bit labor intensive, but very tasty, so it's a definite weekend meal when i have a couple of hours). the point of bringing this boringness up is that i had to hit up one of the asian supermarkets on washinton ave yesterday.
more so than language or any of the creative arts, you can tell so much by a culture by the food they eat. the supermarket is the place everyone goes to, and even though there would be more exotic foods, it's all the staples/basics that speak the loudest. one aisle is just sauces....i've never seen so many things made into sauce or paste form. and the bags of rice are huge, like industrial size bags. i love walking around in that asian supermarket....there's a ton of things i would never eat, but it's not as scary as i would have thought 10 years ago.
i had to pick up something called "dried black fungus" which kinda looks like a floppy mushroom when rehydrated. it had a funky smell, but absorbed the flavors of the stir fry sauce. it's too bad that dim sum takes so much effort for only two people, or that would replace the tapas i've been making when we want an appetizer dinner.
