school's out forever!

my last class yesterday was interesting, only because mine was the last story to be reviewed and some weirdo arguement started up about my writing style. some people were trying to say that my descriptions were very directorial (as in short and succinct) then others were pointing out these long winded sentences with lots of little details...and the discussion got really heated at one point. odd, but kinda funny and interesting (from a writer's standpoint).

but that's it for going to classes every week..and i'm relieved but also very nervous, because now i have don't have "oh, i hate my job/career/life right now, let's go back to school" to fall back on. and do not mention PhD to me...i don't want to think about any more schooling, and research about some obscure topic does not interest me in the least.

also, last night (and just when i think i'm not being appreciated or heard), i get a "congratulations on your last class" prezzie and touching words from the boy. the prezzie is very sparkly. thanks baby, you're the bestest.

today, i'm sick...sinus infection, like i always get this time of year. i don't get colds and rarely get the flu...just f'n sinusitis. this time my throat is killing me and my glands feel all swollen. UGH. and yes, beacuse i'm dealing with it, you all have to get a description of how i feel.

edited to add: i just added American Splendor to my favorite movies list. someone mentioned it in class last night and i realized it wasn't on my profile. it's a movie about Harvey Pekar, a writer who used his lower class existance in Cleveland as the basis for his comic. he wanted an "every day hero" instead of a superhero. it's a good movie, but i heard recently that it's not true to life becuase he's portrayed as an anti-hero, but he's much more of a curmudgeon and an asshole in real life. you should still check it out sometime. Paul Giamatti is Pekar and he's so f'n good.

current mood: slightly sickly
current song: "sabbath bloody sabbath" covered by the cardigans
